venue.” Initially, they first had their eyes on a different building at Queens’ MarketPlace, thinking it to be the perfect spot for a theater and asked the center manager to show them its interior. Once inside, they were crushed to see pillars every 20 feet or so throughout the bottom floor, rendering a theater nearly impossible. “Our hearts sank,” he said. But the manager asked if they wanted to see “The Studio,” a different location at Queens’ MarketPlace. When they walked in, they were stunned to see such a large, two-story open ceilingspace. “I couldn’t believe my eyes,” he said. “It was as though the space was designed to become a movie theater all along.” Assisting the cinema is Scott Stalcup, a theater consultant who has overseen more than 100 projects for AMC Theaters. Patrons at Waikoloa Luxury Cinemas, which a news release calls “date night waiting to happen,” will be greeted into the cinema by its spacious, contemporary lobby, with a bar and high-end furnishings, where they will have an opportunity to “test-drive” the venue’s cushy leather love seats. The venues “Bistro at the Cinemas,” housed in its 5,000-square-foot, covered, outdoor lanai, will offer guests dishes like Neapolitan pizza and gourmet tacos. “Although the Bistro will be there to primarily enhance our movie-goer’s experience, it is completely open to non-movie goers as well and hopefully will become a destination in itself offering a warm, fun-filled atmosphere with live music every night and very affordable menu options,” said Dalzell. Inside one of the cinema’s three theaters, they’ll be in for a luxury experience, Dalzell said. Not only will guests be able to avail themselves of loveseat-style seating with tray tables and recliners, they’ll also have access to gourmet food and alcoholic beverages. Most importantly, he added, the cinema will also offer reserved seating. “No more having to show up early and wait in line to get a decent seat,” he said, “just show up when you want, whether before the show to enjoy a cocktail or at the last minute as the curtain is raising - your favorite seat is there waiting for you.” The facility will also be available for rentals, concerts and life performances.
