Tenant spotlight SOHA LIVING In 2002, sisters Brooke Watson and Shyrah Maurer founded SoHa Living — short for South of Hawaii — seeing an opportunity to offer unique home goods and gifts they had discovered in their travels. The store, which store manager Crystal Alvarado said embodies a lifestyle of “coastal chic and tropical luxury,” has been at Queens’ MarketPlace since October 2015, offering a variety of made-in- Hawaii products. “What makes SoHa Living so special is our variety and quality of merchandise that ranges from shells, home decor, kitchen, baby and novelty,” said Alvarado. “We are constantly working on new products to introduce to the store!” In their time at Queens’ MarketPlace, she said, the store has not only been welcomed by other tenants but also built relationships with them, adding that “it’s great to be part of the Queens’ MarketPlace ohana.” The variety of shops and restaurants, she added, has allowed Queens’ MarketPlace to attract visitors from the nearby hotels and as far away as Hilo. “Their constant need to improve and attract a wide variety of customers from domestic to even international is exciting to be a part of,” Alvarado said. “They also continue to strive on attracting customers by having family events on a daily, weekly and monthly basis held right in our mall.” And for a mall like Queens’ MarketPlace the future is bright and there are lots of opportunities to expand its offerings. In the two years SoHa Living has been at Queens’ MarketPlace, Alvarado said, they’ve seen new stores open up. “In knowing its future possibilities, it’s exciting to be a part of, and with the current shops and restaurants you’re able to shop a wide variety in products,” she said.
