“Jack and Vanessa are wonderful people who
have had a longtime love affair with Hawai‘i for
many years,” said Peggy. “This is a dream-cometrue
home for them. Our working relationship is
very easy. They had artwork and items from the
condo I did for them 15 years ago. They wanted to
integrate those items into the house, along with a
new look and new furnishings.”
In selecting the color palette for the relaxing
interiors, Peggy incorporated the blues of the
swimming pool and the greens of golf course.
The result is a quintessential indoor-outdoor
tropical feeling inside the home, which is open,
airy and organic. The colors contrast nicely with
the couple’s collection of Darrell Hill originals
and giclées such as the enormous orange-hued
triptych by the late Holualoa artist that hangs in
the dining room.
The centerpiece of the home, the kitchen
showcases custom African mahogany cabinets
from Kona-based KCI Kitchens, who also created
the African mahogany entertainment center in
the living room. When designing the kitchen, the
Petersons worked directly with their architect, Ron
Marvick, as well as with project manager Al Pinn,
who is a developer in the Mauna Lani Resort area.
“We didn’t think we needed an outdoor bar, but
we did want a bar feeling in the kitchen,” said
Vanessa. “The counter is split level, two-and-ahalf
