custom african mahogany cabinets

ll the woodwork here was done
by hand, even the doors and
the doorframes. I’d see stacks of
wood on the fl oor one day and
then beautiful wood-paneling on
the ceilings the next. It was like watching them
spin straw into gold.”
Homeowner Vanessa Peterson describes the feeling
of awe she and her husband Jack experienced while
witnessing a team of local craftsmen complete their
brand-new residence at Mauna Lani Point. Along
with the impressive work done by contractor Keith
Johnson, some of the most striking additions are
the custom-crafted mahogany doors by Bo Parks, of
Parks & Parks, in Kapaau.
“It’s amazing to me that someone can be this
creative,” said Vanessa. “He made all of our doors,
including our beautiful sliding front doors that
have beveled-glass panels in them. All of the doors
he did are so well matched and are just perfect.”
Designed by Weigang Marvick & Associates
and completed in August 2017, the Peterson’s
home occupies a little over one acre fronting
the 16th hole of the Mauna Lani North Course.
Avid golfers, the Peterson’s have been coming
to the Mauna Lani area since the 1980s. They
had previously worked with Kona-based interior
designer Peggy Chesnut in outfi tting their
former condo, and were eager to work with her
again on their new home after purchasing their
lot two years ago.
