ONO-LICIOUS | SEPTEMBER 8, 2017 Word on the Str(eat)! Bay Terrace Restaurant at Mauna Lani Two words - breakfast buffet. It’s awesome. Seriously. We’ve been coming to this island for 25 years, and every trip, without fail, we come to Mauna Lani for the breakfast buffet at least once (more if we stay at the hotel!). The selection is great, the food is quite good It’s such a nice place to sit and enjoy breakfast … highly recommend. Hi D. Carlsbad, CA CanoeHouse Stayed at Mauna Lani resort last month, so we booked our anniversary dinner with ten family members and local friends. Nothing beats the warm ocean breezes through the open air seating arrangement. Our long table was in the indoor corner facing the hotel, but we still had spectacular sunset views. The waitstaff was attentive, well-trained, and got along well with both California tourists and visitors who joined us from Hilo. Our food was served promptly and as together as possible, given the ten of us ordering pupus (appetizers), as well. No complaints on food quality or prep/presentation from either guest. We all wore Aloha attire, and they didn’t mind my wearing shorts and Topsiders with my Kohala shirt. The place was crowded for a 7pm seating, but the excellent service was what we’ve come to expect from anything at Mauna Lani over the years. Enjoy viewing the baby hammerhead sharks in the large pond behind the restaurant! Rudy P. Newark, CA Habaneros Grill Great steak, with vegetables instead of the starch. Tostadas are to die for. We love this place, it has AC and it’s really hot here right now. We are local and we come here often to this restaurant. Good wine, good beer and nice people. Jae M. Kailua-Kona, HI Koa Table at King’s Shops Amazing food! We stopped in for lunch our server was amazing! She treated us so well and knew the menu like it is her business. The fries we had was crispy and fresh. The yakitori chicken sandwich had so much flavor and the meat was not dry. Our taste of aloha bento box had flavors coming at it constantly. The salad was refreshing, poke perfect, and the coconut jello thing was just the right sweetness. Best of all was the crabbie piggy salad. That kick of wasabi really made it a treat. Bacon bites really made the dish a good texture. And then we ordered more fries and the molten lava cake. I could go on and on and eat more here. Bounlay B. Chicago, IL Sansei Seafood & Sushi Bar Sushi was great! We ordered 3 rolls and they were all good the spicy tuna, dragonfly, and rainbow roll. We also got the noodles they were delicious. Wait was quick. No wifi but waitresses are really nice. Highly recommended. Julia F. Princeville, HI Sam Choy’s Kai Lanai Beautiful view and great service. Honestly I thought it would would be more expensive for the view it has but it was very reasonably priced. Breakfast was super cheap and it was excellent. I recommend the ham and mushroom omelette with house potatoes. Plus they accommodated a group of 11 of us so smoothly, it doesn’t always work out so well with large parties but they were great! Michelle W. Kirkland, WA Haleo Luau My husband, daughter and I decided to go to this luau since we were staying next door. I’m very glad we chose this one. The story telling was great without being too long winded for children. They made sure to let you know to get as much food and drink as you want. The food was good but not too fancy that my picky daughter wouldn’t have anything to eat. The activities before dinner were very fun and we all had a blast. My daughter still talks about the hula girls and got to take a picture with two of them after the show. I would recommend this to couples and families of all ages.
