Opened in 2008, Island Gourmet Markets at Queens’ MarketPlace is one of only two locations in the state of Hawaii. Thanks to the success of the Waikoloa Beach Resort store, a second location opened on Maui in 2015. Visitors and residents alike will find hundreds of gourmet “to-go” items such as fish tacos, pizza, hot dogs, burgers, poke, toasted sandwiches, chicken dinners, salad-bar offerings and sushi. And if you’re in the mood for a sit-down meal, Island Gourmet Markets offers both indoor and outdoor seating where patrons can enjoy custom entrées for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Store manager Kirk Nakamura says customers “in-the-know” come to Island Gourmet Markets on Thursdays and Saturdays for the $13.99 Prime Rib specials. “You can pick up the prime rib dinner plate at the deli and take it home with you, or eat here,” said Nakamura.
