Featuring a full bar, Bongo Ben’s offers a casual, oceanfront setting on Ali‘i Drive. At the entry, two giant bongos with menus printed on the drumheads attract customers as they approach the steps of the covered dining patio, where every seat has an ocean view. In the back room, ten TV screens broadcast live sports at the cocktail bar, which serves up local brews and imports on tap. Happy hour takes place daily from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The restaurant’s comprehensive roster of beer includes 14 extra-cold beers on tap such as Castaway IPA, Fire Rock Pale Ale, Longboard Lager, Big Wave Golden Ale and Wailua Wheat Ale. Imports and domestic drafts are also available, along with bottled and canned favorites including Guinness Stout, Steinlager and Corona. Tropical cocktails, well drinks, wine and martinis make Bongo Ben’s a great destination for a classic Kona sunset. The appetizer menu highlights calamari strips, ahi sashimi, poke and coconut onion rings, not to mention a sizeable seafood platter brimming with beer-battered seasonal fish suitable for sharing.
