Island Fish & Chips’ most popular item is the signature tempura fish and chips served with pineapple cole slaw. Featuring traditional Mexican dishes along with the contemporary flavors of Mexico, Habaneros Grill in Kailua-Kona offers a delicious array of gourmet options — from appetizers, soups, salads and desserts to savory entrées for lunch and dinner. In addition to traditional dishes like tacos, quesadillas and burritos, the menu showcases cuisine that is as colorful as it is flavorful. Take for example, the Ribeye A La Parrilla, a 10-oz. grilled steak marinated with olive oil, roasted jalapeños, garlic, salt and lime topped with tropical salsa. The Carne Asada a la Mexicana is served Veracruz style with homemade salsa. All salsas and sauces at Habaneros Grill are made fresh daily. Seafood dishes highlight the Habaneros Grill menu. Grilled medium rare, the Atun A La Parilla grilled ahi offers a Southof the-Border twist on Hawaiian fish. The Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo is a garlic-shrimp dish sauteéd in olive oil, garlic, chile arbol and green beans served with beans and rice for $22. Other seafood dishes include Chipolte Shrimp and the Fish Veracruz catch of the day. If you’re going to Habaneros Grill for lunch, be sure to try a bowl of homemade soup, either tortilla tomato soup served with queso fresco and avocado, or the shredded chicken soup blended with rice, peas, carrots, onion, cilantro and jalepeño. Served warm with black bean spread and mayo, sandwich choices include Mexican-style breaded chicken, slow-roasted pork, and carne asada. The carne adasa salad features grilled steak, mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumber, carrots and jimcam with a tamarind/piloncillo dressing. Courtesy photo ONO-LICIOUS | JANUARY 13, 2017
