ONO-LICIOUS | MARCH 11, 2016 3 LOS HABANEROS: Open Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. CONTINUED FROM PAGE FRONT Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Los Habaneros has been a mainstay in Keauhou for more than a dozen years. Whether for a quick bite before going to the movies, or a complete sit-down meal after a day at the beach, Los Habaneros is a favorite of locals and visitors alike. There’s even something for the keiki on the menu, including quesadillas and nacho burritos for under $4. A native of Mexico City, Los Habaneros owner Armando Altamirano brings traditional offerings to the restaurant, as well as frequent specials like Oaxaca tamales, chicken mole, menudo and mixiote. Many of the a la carte items are priced at under $6, like the chile verde taco for $3.25 or the chicken tostada for $5.75. It wouldn’t be an authentic Mexican experience without imported Mexican beer. Los Habaneros offers ice-cold Modelo, Sol, Bohemia, Dos Equis, Pacifico, Negra Modelo by the bottle, as well as margaritas on the rocks too. If a shot of tequila is up more your alley, Los Habaneros serves up Patron 1800 and premium Sauza, the perfect way to welcome in the weekend. Refreshing and authentic Mexican beverages include homemade aqua de sandia (watermelon juice), as well as homemade horchata and Jamaica. For dessert, try the delicious flan, churros, or buñuelos. Breakfast is also part of the Los Habaneros menu. Priced under $6, egg burritos are brimming with chorizo, cheese, rice and beans. The Two-Egg Breakfast “served Mexican style” features garden-fresh tomatoes, onions and jalapenos for just $6.99. There’s also the classic Huevos Rancheros serviced with corn tortillas, rice, beans, eggs and cheese for only $6.75. ■ The Fajitas Special comes laden with sautéed onions, red and green peppers, cheese, sour cream and guacamole, served with beans, rice and piping-hot tortillas.
