Artsy, quirky, ono: It’s all good at Christmas Extravaganza Nearly 100 artisans and crafters from California and throughout the state of Hawaii will be on hand for 29th annual Hilo Christmas Extravaganza Craft Fair — the biggest yet — from 5-9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Edith Kanaka‘ole Multi-purpose Stadium. In addition to the crafts, there will be food vendors such as Liko Lehua Café, Ka Uhane Hemolele O ka Malamalama Church serving Hawaiian food, Shaka’s, Salti Gear Lemonade and Aunty Peaches Onolicious Poi Balls. Keep one ear on the announcer as you shop so you don’t miss the door prizes — four items will be given away every 10 minutes throughout the twoday event. “I’m excited to introduce 20 new vendors to this year’s show,” says Kim Sasaki, owner of Malamapono Events Management LLC, and presenter of the annual fair. “It’s important to be able to provide the shoppers with a variety of new products as well as all their favorites. We are nearly sold out of vendor spaces. It’s packed!” Among the new vendors are: Ulua Gear LLC, featuring fishing lures and T-shirts; Pacific Island Arts, showcasing hand-painted artwork on tapa; Stay Humble Pray with clothing items for men, women and children; and Pa‘ahana Wood Designs & Tutu’s Totes, with handmade koa earrings and tote bags.
