8 ONO-LICIOUS | SEPTEMBER 15, 2017 Word on the Str(eat)! taking a manta ray dive and was pleasantly surprised. It’s hard to find but worth the trouble. You immediately get a great vibe upon entering. they do not serve alcohol but welcome you to BYOB. We loved their rules… No cell phones, no over cooked meat and no pretense. We had the shrimp and hominy, rack of lamb, filet micron and the truffle mac & cheese. We would all recommend any of these dishes. Large servings great for sharing :-). Although Nick wasn’t there we were taking care of fabulous by Cody and Josh. We definitely dig their music :-). You need to visit something like this totally different from the rest of the tourist traps in Hawaii you get the sense these people really care about making your own experience a memorable one. April M. Fremont, CA Rays on the Bay After completing their “raynovation” my wife and I went for the grand re-opening. The facilities have been upgraded and the food, drinks and service was excellent. Went during spectacular sunset tonight. The ukulele music was really a nice touch. Not the typical Hawaiian music but an upbeat tempo, contemporary style. The music was great but did not interfere talking with my wife. THIS IS HOW IT’S DONE. Daiichi Ramen I took my family of five on a whim, since we were in the shopping center for something else and my teenage son pinged on the “Ramen” and basically demanded that we eat there. I’m so glad we did! The menu takes a little explaining if you haven’t eaten there before, but our waitress was friendly and patient as we clunked our way through. They have single bowls of every different type of broth and protein, vegetarian selections, or you can get combos with soup/2 sides…with about 12 side options. If you can’t find something you like here…then you just don’t like Ramen type soup and shouldn’t haven eaten here in the first place. My point about cheap, all five of us had soup combos, had to leave food on the table, and it was $70 with the tip! If you’re visiting Kona on a tight budget, hit this place up! Aaron G. Privateer’s Cove We stumbled on this place after AUGUST 28TH, 2017 - SEPTEMBER 24TH, 2017 Join us for a very special, 3-Course Surf & Turf Dinner. Enjoy your choice of Salad, USDA Prime Steak paired with your choice of Seafood Complement, and a fulfi lling dessert for a limited time only. $79.95 per person (plus tax and gratuity) The Shops at Mauna Lani, Hawaii Island | 808.887.0800 | 68-1330 Mauna Lani Drive Rob L. Pebble Beach, CA Bongo Ben’s My husband and I were walking the downtown streets of Kona and noticed this restaurant and decided to try it. We enjoyed the food, customer service and dinner guests, geckos! We enjoyed this place so much, we came back again for lunch our last day on the island. Food was amazing! You get a lot of food for what you pay for! fivebroncofans Boise, ID Foster’s Kitchen This restaurant was a true find! Everything is farm to table and absolutely delicious! The atmosphere and surrounding area overlooking the bay are awesome for sunsets! I had the Panioli salad and my husband had the pork chops! Both equally good! Try it you’ll go back again like we did! Denise S. Temecula, CA Island Gourmet Market Located close to the Hilton Waikoloa resort, this market is located in a shopping center. It has a little of everything from grocery including fresh fruit, milk and meat to prepared food like sushi, sandwiches and salads. Wine, liquor as well as hot and cold to-go food was available. Also has a lot of non-food items like suntan lotion, beach toys as well as a wide assortment of gifts to take back home. Prices are higher than mainland but way cheaper if you compare eating out or buying at the resort. Worth a stop just to see the assortment of Hawaiian products available. Service was very friendly and efficient. Aqua2014 Sugarland, TX Habanero’s Grill They have a Taco Thursday with $4 Margaritas and several kinds of Tacos for a reduced price. The presentation is not regular with a very artistic look to the fish, pork, beef or bean tacos. I advise sitting outside because the music is really loud inside the bar. Everything was tasty and good service. We went twice on Thursdays but we kind of had enough without desiring to return even though it was good enough. RobertaL238 Abilene, TX Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse The food is always so amazing here. You are in Hawaii. We come here at least 2 times each visit to the island. The waiters are always so nice. Can’t wait until the next time. Terri Lynn O. Los Angeles, CA NEW FLAVORS NEW AMBIENCE SAME STUNNING OCEAN VIEWS Come experience the renovated Rays on the Bay!
