most popular menu item
is the Panko Crusted Ahi
Sashimi Roll — a lightly fried
appetizer made with high-

Sansei is also the talk of
the town for its amazing half-

Sundays and Mondays from
5 to 6 p.m. Repeat customers
flock to the restaurant to get
50-percent off on virtually the
entire food menu — includ-

“We have regulars who
line up at the door with their
beach chairs to wait to get in,”
said Tom.“It’s first come, first

day through Saturday from
5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. that’s very
popular as well.”
Every entree can be por-

brings extra bowls and plates
for everyone to enjoy sam-
pling anything on the menu,
like the crab ramen, seared
salmon and tiger prawns, or
the Chinese-style sashimi
snapper.
“This is ohana-style din-
ing,”Tom said.“We encourage
people to order whatever
they want and share it with
their party.”

ONO-LICIOUS | AUGUST 7, 2015
Word on the Str(eat)!
Blue Dragon, Kawaihae
We went to see Hapa and to have dinner. Hapa played
beautifully as predicted, but the food and service was a
real treat! Everything from the fried oyster pupu to the
fresh catch on sriracha mashed potatoes and finally to
the melty chocolate cake was superb. Service could not
have been better.

Hawaiian Fish N Chips, Queens’ MarketPlace
The fish and chips meal was delicious! The fish was
fresh and super soft & very good for a quick meal. I
didn’t expect the food to be as good as it was. Fries
were good and tasty as well. My mom ordered the coco-
nut shrimp meal which was super yummy served with
a sweet guava souse. The next day I returned for a meal
of coconut shrimp for myself. Super yummy food. Great
gem in the middle of the food-court.

Rays on the Bay – Sheraton
Rays on the bay is named due to the giant mantas
that feed of the plankton at night time; after 9.30pm is
the best time to see this when the tourist boats have
left! The menu here spans everything from salads to
flatbeds and steak to far eastern fusion food with pupu
ranging from $10 to $17 and entrées from $20 to $40 ;
with salads and flatbread ranging up to $20. Using lo-
cally sourced food the menu varies according to what
is in season but is original and full of choice! We shared
the signature shrimp starter; entrées of rib eye steak
and the catch of the day, washed down with a bottle
of french champagne for $165. I would say that if you
skipped the champagne it would be more kikeb $120
but our mains were over $30 each. If you wanted to you
could eat well here for $30 each! We were seated at a
firepit table next to the ocean and had great views!

Sansei Sushi Restaurant, Queens’ MarketPlace
High level of personal and professional care. Before
I go in to review, I’d like to mention that I have a FATAL
allergy to peanuts. If you have any children or if you,
yourself have a food allergy, you’ll understand me when
I say that I needed to be extremely cautious about the
food I was eating, especially since peanuts was an ingre-
dient listed on the menu. As we walked in, I had hoped
that my reservation I made via my Open Table app went
through and thankfully it did. We were promptly greet-
ed as we walked in and seated immediately. We began
our dinner with a surprise appetizer of panko cruste
Ahi with arugula compliments of the GM, Thomas Ale
jado. I’ve been around the world twice and let me sa
that this has got to be one of THE finest General Manag
ers I’ve ever met in my life! Refined, well trained, polite
tentative and very humble. Dinner - I had the 7 oz. File
Mignon with the 7 oz. lobster tail. Cooked to perfection
both dishes were equally delicious to say the least. Th
steak was glazed in a Hamakua mushroom reductio
sauce and the lobster was FRESH served with draw
butter and lemon wedge. The dish came with mashe
potatos and baby island vegetables. My fiancé had th
Takah special roll, consisting of Ahi, ama ebi, crab, av
ocado rolled in tobiko. He enjoyed every bite of it an
says it was “made perfectly without too much rice….
Dessert - GO WITH THE CREME BRULEE! TRUST ME O
THIS ONE! Very smooth and not overly heavy. I hope m
review of this fine establishment will help you to mak
your decision on whether or not to eat here.
