Howard. “The bronze has so much more dimensions,
potential and color. I can do limited editions of it and
even change the patina and the look of the piece too. For
the actual casting process, I send the pieces to a foundry
in Oregon.”
A retired real estate broker, Howard has lived in Kona
since 1984 and previously lived in Hilo since 1969.
Built in 2005, the Bradley’s two-story home features
an elongated floor plan with the master bedroom
suite upstairs. In addition to his carved a‘ama crab
rock sculpture and a giant octopus carving out of blue
rock, the home displays Howard’s new bronze pieces
including an impressive bas-relief style image of a hapu‘u
fern, as well as bronze koi fish, a bronze map of the
Big Island, and a beautiful bronze bust of Pele with lava
flowing through her hair.
Never one to rest on his laurels, Howard is busy
conceptualizing his next bronze piece, a sculpture of a
Hawaiian stilt.
“The new piece will be my entry into three-dimensional,
freestanding bronze sculpture,” he said. “Everything I
attempt, I do because I think it would be interesting.”
