As a contractor in construction for 35 years I have seen the “unrestrained progress” on our islands and in the mainland; as a result I’ve become more “green conscious” and selective on future projects. Urban sprawl should not be the agenda for our precious island, but to preserve our environment and sustainability of our resources. I moved home to Hawaii to get away from over population, over development, and a lack of building consciousness. We have the opportunity to make intelligent choices and differences in the maturing progression of Kona. Let’s keep a higher standard of “less is more” and better preserve our aina.
