Foster’s Kitchen Okay, so this was my first time eating her eat Foster’s… I’m can’t believe the service we got from the bottom of the steps to our server Jaclyn (sorry if misspelled). My husband and myself love good service but to find good service and great food!!!! We will be back again when we come to Kona for our Costco run from Hilo… oh yes and we are bringing our kiddos… Kysha T. Hilo Lemongrass Express This place is great! My wife and I were looking for a casual spot to eat versus the expensive dining by the Kings’ Shops. We stumbled upon this cafeteria and gave Lemongrass Express a shot. It’s definitely not your typical mall cafeteria food! I ordered the chicken wraps which were fantastic! My wife got the tofu which was crispy on the outside and silky on the inside. We got a couple of smoothies too, but they were just okay. The boba was a bit too firm. We also met TK, who runs the place. Very friendly guy who knows what he’s doing. He also has a couple of other restaurants on the island which we happened upon coincidentally on our visit. We didn’t eat at them but you should definitely check them out (Lemongrass Bistro and TK’s Noodles). This place is a great food stop if you are driving up/down the western coast! Michael L. San Ramon, CA Habaneros Grill Great steak, with vegetables instead of the starch. Tostadas are to die for. We love this place has AC and really hot here right now. It’s usually not hot in Kona but this is a steamy day. We are local and we live here and come here often. To this restaurant. Good wine good beer and nice people. Jae M. Kailua-Kona Sansei Seafood, Steakhouse and Sushi Bar We tried eight different sushi rolls! We loved them all except the spider roll which was still good but not great. The Sansei ahi special roll was amazing and the dragon fly was our fave. The unfiltered sake in bamboo was poured by our waitress Elizabeth every time our glass was empty. She was fantastic and so was the food. I would definitely go back! Kendra B. Santee, CA Bay Terrace Two words — breakfast buffet. It’s awesome. Seriously. We’ve been coming to this island for 25 years, and every trip, without fail, we come to Mauna Lani for the breakfast buffet at least once (more if we stay at the hotel!). The selection is great, the food is quite good and the service is very friendly, even if it’s a little slow occasionally. The birds are a nuisance but, that’s how it goes when you have an outdoor setting. It’s such a nice place to sit and enjoy breakfast … highly recommend. Hi D. Carlsbad, CA Noodle Club Great vegan soup and vegan mushroom dumpling wrap thingies… nice surprise to find vegan options in a town of cows and cowboys. Thanks so much for good service and clean surroundings too. Friendly and great thought into the decor of the restaurant as well. Would definitely recommend to vegans and non as well. Mahalo! Belinda B. Kaneohe, Oahu Island Gourmet Markets The grocery store is well stocked and has high quality produce. However, my real favorite is the deli/food joint inside the grocery store. You can’t get food any fresher than this. I ordered the spicy garlic furikake chicken, the dynamite mahimahi, volcano sushi roll and a salad. All the items were cooked fresh in front of my eyes and the lettuce was literally chopped 30 seconds before it went into my box. Highly recommend this deli for very tasty and inexpensive meals in this part of the island. D I. Fremont, CA Sam Choy’s Kai Lanai We came across this place on our way from Kona traveling toward Hilo to visit the volcanoes national park. It wasn’t busy and it looked like they were still setting up when we arrived to eat some breakfast. One thing that makes this place so good is the view. We were seated at a table under a canopy like structure that was overlooking the ocean. The openair seating truly made this spot a win. We both ordered “The Sam,” which came with two eggs any style, breakfast meat, and either pancakes or French toast. The food itself was great, the portion sizes were large and we couldn’t finish it all. The plating and presentation of the food was nice and our waiter/waitress (our waiter was training on his first day) were very cordial and accommodating. Ryan R. East Bridgewater, MA Haleo Luau This was a terrific show at the Sheraton Kona hotel. Auntie Tutu. What a terrific hostess for the show. Somewhat typical for a luau of this type but she was great. The other half was called up on stage to do a tasting of some of the food that she explaining to the crowd. This brings me to another positive. The food.
