Kalahuipua`a Lagoons WWTF serving the Mauna Lani Resort, HI
Hawaii American Water, a subsidiary of American Water, provides wastewater service to
more than 35,000 people in the Hawaii Kai community on O`ahu and the Mauna Lani Resort
on the Big Island.
Our Kalahuipua`a Lagoons wastewater treatment facility which serves the Mauna Lani
resort on the Big Island has an opening for a plant operator. The position involves the
operation and maintenance of a 0.75 MGD aerated lagoon secondary treatment plant.
Duties include, but are not limited to: process control, sampling, laboratory analyses, data
collection and reporting and preventive maintenance. The successful candidate will join
our senior operator in staffing the plant. As such, the candidate must be willing and able to
work shifts that include one weekend day, share on-call duties which address after-hour
emergencies and be available for overtime as needed.
The minimum requirements for this position are: a high school diploma or its equivalent, a
valid State of Hawaii driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Hawaii Wastewater Operator
Grade I certificate within one year from date of hire. Preference will be given to candidates
who possess a current Hawaii operator certificate or can obtain one via reciprocity. All
grade levels (I through IV) will be considered with compensation commensurate with grade
level and experience. Physical requirements of this position are the ability to lift up to 50
lbs., bend, climb, and perform work in confined spaces.
