Louise Fincher has been the Trauma Program Coordinator at Hilo Medical Center since 2009. She and the trauma team play an essential role in delivering nationally recognized 4-star care for our community. “When the Trauma Program Coordinator position was created at Hilo Medical Center, I knew it was a role I could put my experience and expertise to the best use,” said Louise. “Our staff is well trained to give every trauma patient that comes to our hospital our very best.” Trauma injuries arrive in many different forms – car accidents, pedestrian accidents and domestic violence to name a few. Did you know that suicides and falls are among the leading causes of death among Hawaii residents and exceed deaths from car accidents? “I would like to encourage our community to look in on our kupuna. One of the best things we can do to help them is to de-clutter their homes and keep walkways free, well-lit, and safe from tripping hazards. “Similarly, I’d like to encourage our community to reach out and take care of those who are struggling with mental health issues.
