Coming together for ‘Beatlemania’ The Paradise Performing Arts Center opened last September and presented its first show, a pidgin version of a Dr. Seuss classic, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” in their practice room in a makeshift theater. “We brought in 250 chairs for guests to sit in, made our own theater wings out of PVC pipe, and borrowed fabric from another studio to cover the wallto wall mirror,” says PPAC owner and creative director Nadia Schlosser. “How Da Grinch Wen Steal Christmas,” a show that incorporated all the facets of the performing arts center — acting, singing and dancing — played to a full, albeit hot, house. “We made it work but the goal was always to get to more of a theater setting so the kids could have that experience,” she says. So Schlosser is excited for PPAC’s first Palace Theater show, “Beatlemania,” at 3 p.m. Saturday. More than 75 students ages 3 and older will dance and sing to Beatles-inspired music, showcasing what they’ve learned in classes from voice training to hip-hop, ballet, tap and more, joined by specials guests, Harmony On Tap and the Puna Men’s Chorus. “I think it will be really exciting for the kids to be on a bigger stage,” Schlosser says. “It’s such a beautiful theater and with the lights and the stage and the sound being so much bigger, I just think it has such a magical feeling.” The idea for doing “Beatlemania” came to Schlosser one day while she was driving and the Beatles song, “Sgt.
