West Hawaii Association of REALTORS supports Public Education in Hawaii
On Sunday, October 14,
West Hawaii Association
of REALTORS (WHAR),
joined by friends, family
and other community members,
participated in “adopt” a school as part
of its REALTOR® Action Day (RAD),
a statewide community service event
that promotes volunteer action in the
community. REALTORS coordinated
with principals, local businesses, and
community members to serve schools
by securing supplies and volunteers.
Hawaii Island adopted Holualoa
Elementary School and completed
three main projects: putting together
picnic tables, distributing gravel in the
parking lot, and pulling weeds out in
front of the school.
At WHAR’s Board Installation
this December, there will be a
silent auction, with all proceeds
going towards scholarships to West
Hawaii students seeking advanced
education either in community
colleges, undergraduate schools, or
trade schools, and will be awarded in
$1,000 increments.
Student loan debt has become
one of the major barriers to home
ownership and often
is multi-generational.
The exorbitant tuitions
can be a deterrent
for students to seek
a higher education,
and scholarships
help to make it a
more affordable and
attainable goal.
The West Hawaii Association of
Realtors is now accepting silent auction
donations for the scholarship fundraiser.
