A keiki sewing camp

Kreations this summer.
Kilauea Kreations in Hilo is the sister store to the
flagship Kilauea Kreations in Volcano Village that
has been in business 21 years. The Hilo store
puts the focus on supplies, fabrics and patterns
for quilters. Preview parties take place every four
months, unveiling the upcoming class schedules
for that quarter. September is National Sewing
Month, says Leimomi, who notes that in addition
to a roster of quilting and sewing classes, the
store will be offering sales every day of the month.
Classes range from beginning quilting to the
sewing of bags, clothes and stuffed animals.
“This summer, we did a keiki sewing camp,” she
said. “The students were so eager to learn and
had such fun. For adults, our six-week Hawaiian
quilting class will begin in October where
participants learn to make a Hawaiian quilted
pillow from start to finish. We want to continue to
educate and inspire folks to tap into their creative
side with fabrics and thread.”
