KWXX Hoolaulea on your dial Performances by more than 20 local groups are lined up for the 23rd annual KWXX Hoolaulea, presented by Coca-Cola and Hubert’s Lemonade, from 5-10:30 p.m. Saturday in Hilo. The evening of live music spans the downtown area from the intersection of Mamo Street and Kamehameha Avenue to the intersection of Kamehameha Avenue and Waianuenue Avenue, and up to Keawe Street. There are three main stages: at the bottom of Haili Street, at the intersection of Kalakaua Street and Kamehameha Avenue, and at the Palace Theater. “We are really excited and looking forward to another great event with one of the biggest entertainment lineups we have ever had,” says Chris Leonard, event producer and KWXX president and general manager. On the bill at the outdoor stage locations are popular artists Ekolu, Anuhea, the Steppas, Kekai Boyz, Positive Motion, Sudden Rush and Bruddah Waltah. Also look for Loeka Longakit, Damon Williams, Siaosi, Kolea and Shirnel Enos with Beyond Paradise. There are also several firsttime KWXX Hoolaulea performers this year, including Penidean, Josh Tatofi, Irie Love and Kelandi. The Palace Theater is the only sit-down venue where a host of noted artists will captivate the crowd. “The Palace Theater stage has grown into an incredible showcase for some of the top names in Hawaiian music, and this year is no exception with Na Hoku Hanohano award-winners Mark Yamanaka, Darlene Ahuna, Robi Kahakalau, Lorna and Nani Lim, along with the Keawe Trio, Kanaka Pila and Kris Fuchigami,” Leonard says. “It has also been the site of some incredible allstar jam sessions and guest dancers.” In addition to the music, the 23rd KWXX Hoolaulea also features more than 30 food and craft vendors. “The KWXX Hoolaulea Annual entertainment extravaganza erupts Saturday in Downtown Hilo See HOOLAULEA Page 4
