Hawaii Tribune-Herald Island Beat Thursday, October 1, 2015 3 Honolulu Theatre for Youth brings ‘Anime Alice’ to Big Island Honolulu Theatre for Youth will bring its 2015-16 season opener, ‘Anime Alice & Her Adventures in Wonderland,’ to the Big Island in October. In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Lewis Carroll’s classic story, playwright Alvin Chan and the creative team behind HTY’s recent hits “A Korean Cinderella,” “Anime Momotaro” and “A Bollywood Robin Hood,” have created an original production inspired by traditional Japanese theater and eye-popping, anime-inspired staging techniques. In this “Alice,” our protagonist is apprehensive about her family’s impending move to Japan — it’s hard enough figuring out how to be a proper young girl in her own country.
