Tutu’s House lists
program schedule
Tutu’s House inWaimea
has announced the follow-
ing programs:
“Life Is Worth Living
Well” meets from 4 to 5
p.m. Thursdays, June 18
through July 16, with Rev.
Dr. Virginia A. Barnes.
The workshop will intro-
duce practical ways to
integrate physical, men-
tal, spiritual and personal
growth and understand-
ing. Bring a journal or
notebook and attend all
or any Thursday in this
series.
“Symphony of the
Soil” is shown from 5
to 7 p.m. Wednesday,
with Mike Puckett, sus-
tainability
educator.
This film inspires the
understanding that treat-
ing the soil right can help
solve some of the most
pressing environmental
problems including cli-
mate change, dead zones,
water scarcity and world
hunger. “Symphony of
the Soil” highlights pos-
sibilities of healthy soil
creating healthy plants
creating healthy humans
living on a healthy plan-
et. As time allows, Packett
will facilitate conversation
after the screening.
“Social Security 101”
meets from 5:30 to 6:30
p.m. Thursday, with Ed
Hickey, AARP volunteer.
“Seniors Safe and
Independent”
gives
information for kupuna
and their support net-
work from 1 to 2 p.m.
Friday. Lexi McKay of the
Elder Abuse Prevention
and Prosecution Unit
of the Hawaii County
Prosecuting Attorney’s
Office, will discuss how
to recognize and avoid
financial exploitation, and
what resources are avail-
able in the community
both to report abuse and
to arrange services to keep
a senior at home, safe and
independent.
Tutu’s House welcomes
all and shares a variety of
educational resources in a
safe place to explore health
and wellness. There are
no fees for its programs,
but tax-deductible dona-
tions are welcome.
