Community Cup to benefit Volcano Art Center programs Tea and pottery are a perfect combination. Come sample some of Hawaii’s finest during Volcano Art Center’s inaugural Community Cup fundraiser from 2-5 p.m. Oct. 8 at the center’s Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village. The event will feature handthrown teacups and bowls by Big Island potters, as well as samples of fine Hawaii-grown teas, demonstrations, exhibits and more. Proceeds will be used to support ceramics and stained glass programs at Volcano Art Center’s education campus. The Volcano Art Center’s team of potters, including Chiu Leong, Erik Wold, Emily Herb and special guest artists, have begun throwing a large assortment of tea-drinking vessels that will be included in the price of admission. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door and includes your choice of one tea bowl, plus samples of brewed Hawaii-grown teas.
