Guests can see what many Hawaiian artists and practitioners are doing to preserve and perpetuate Hawaiian culture through language, hula (dance), design, music and chant. “It’s an intimate setting that allows the audience to participate, ask questions and literally see and hear what inspires and motivates Hawaiian practitioners to do what they do, whether it be chant, music, hula (dance) or art designs,” Bezilla says. She adds that the presentations are an opportunity to see more than just a “show.” “It’s the chance to learn how to be more aware, more engaged and more educated about the many facets that makes the Hawaiian culture unique,” Bezilla says. Presale tickets for each cultural enrichment program are $8 for ‘Imiloa members, $10 for nonmembers, and can be purchased at ‘Imiloa’s front desk or by phone at 932-8901. A limited supply of tickets will be available for purchase the day of each event for $15. For more information, visit imiloahawaii. org.
