Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, Bongo Ben’s never misses a beat when it comes to providing something for everyone on its extensive menu. Featuring a covered dining patio where every seat in the house has a view of Kailua Bay, the popular Alii Drive café presents everything from fresh catch of the day and prime rib to fish & chips, island-fresh salads, burgers, pasta entrées, surf n’ turf, sizeable appetizers and plenty of breakfast items. Priced moderately relative to Alii Drive standards, the menu includes freshly caught fish acquired from local fishermen several times a week, like the Fresh-Catch Ahi Tuna served with sautéed veggies. Take for instance, the Tropical Fruit Salad, brimming with mixed island fruits topped with macadamia nuts, raisins and a side of honey yogurt dressing. In the kitchen, the Bongo Ben’s culinary team bakes all the restaurant’s breads, biscuits, cinnamon rolls and hamburger buns in-house. Gluten-free and traditional pizza crusts are also made from scratch, as are the house dressings, sauces and delectable desserts. Every night of the week, visitors and residents can savor house specials such as the Surf n’ Turf on Saturdays or the Fresh Catch on Mondays. Patrons “inthe know” begin lining up at 5 p.m. on Sundays for popular Prime Rib Night.
