FEBRUARY 12-14, 2016 2016 Building & Design Expo || KONA-KOHALA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 7 Booth #3 Kona Shoji Design BOOTH 19 Ali‘i Gas & Energy Systems BOOTH 25 Scott Unger (former Manager of AmeriGas — Big Island) and his wife Karen (formally with Aloha Airlines) opened Ali‘i Gas & Energy in October of 2011. Prior to Scott’s “launch” into the gas business, our competitor had a monopoly on the market. Born and raised on the Big Island, Scott understands the challenges of being an Island- State particularly as it relates to energy. Primarily, a full service propane company, Ali‘i Gas has evolved into Ali‘i Gas & Energy. Our goal is to segue our customers from an oil reliant base to a renewable base providing clean and economical solutions along the way. The key to Ali‘i Gas & Energy is understanding our customers. With that in mind, there is no company better positioned to offer the residents of Hawaii a level of options and pricing never before seen in the gas industry. While complying with all County and Federal Codes, we hope to provide common sense solutions to the Big Island’s energy needs. Please visit us at aliigas.com to learn more about our services. Hawaiian Solar BOOTH 6 Hawaiian Solar is a locally owned and operated solar company for almost 40 years here on the Big Island with its roots going back to the 1970’s when Ken Bloom, company President, first started the company with the famous Solar Dog. Voted the best solar company in West Hawaii for 11 years and a Better Business Bureau A+ rating clearly demonstrates the professionalism and high standards that the company strives to maintain year on year. Specializing in solar hot water, solar electricity (PV) and solar pool heating makes Hawaiian Solar your one stop shop for all of your solar needs. With over 6,000 systems installed they have to be doing something right. Mel Gear, Chief Engineer and Senior Vice President says If you are thinking about going solar always install a solar water heater first as this will save up to 40% off of your HELCO bill and this will obviously reduce the number of PV panels required by up to 40% also. Solar hot water, also called solar thermal, is typically 80-85% efficient whereas solar PV is typically only about 20% efficient. All of the recent HELCO changes mean there has never been a better time to install solar hot water and start saving immediately AND there are no lengthy HELCO approvals required so come and visit us at Booth #6 for a chat with our friendly staff to find out more. Kona Shoji Design door installations feature the rail system, shoji paper, window treatments and finish that make for a custom product. Our customers choose the wood and door design they want to fit into their homes. We sell traditional Japanese shoji papers and the more durable PVC laminated papers. Installation is made easy with double-sided tape made specifically for shoji papers and shoji door designs. We also have shoji film for glass and we sell acrylic sheets for exterior use. Many of our products have been used for interior and exterior lighting. Our papers are easily rolled and mailed in tubes and are shipped throughout Hawaii and to the mainland as well as overseas. Kona Shoji Design has an online shoji paper store that allows our customers all over the world to purchase shoji paper so they can make repairs to their own doors, windows, screens, lanterns or lamps.
