TripAdvisor, the travel planning and booking site, in April announced the winners of its Travelers’ Choice awards for islands. Award winners were determined using an algorithm that took into account the quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions on islands worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period, as well as traveler booking interest on TripAdvisor. Ahead of the Big Island were Maui (No. 1), Key West, Florida (No. 2), and Oahu (No. 3). Maui was also ranked the No. 1 in the world, and was the only island in the U.S. to make the top 10 beaches in the world list.
