Ruth’s Chris
Steakhouse at
Mauna Lani
I do not give out
5-star reviews often.
We’ve eaten at this
particular location every
trip we make to the Big
Island. It’s not JUST
the awesome steaks,
and the sizzling plates
of herbs and butter
that they’re served on
(very Pavlovian...), but
also the warm, friendly
service and taking care
of all of the little details
to ensure that you’re
more than satisfied with
your meal. We’re going
back for meal No. 2 for
this trip tonight because
we love the ambiance
and the lava sunsets
that we’re enjoying
lately courtesy of Pele!
If you’ve never been,
and want a guaranteed
delicious steak dinner....
you can’t miss!

Foster’s
Kitchen
We recently enjoyed
a lovely sunset dinner
at Fosters Kitchen
& were very pleased
by the quality of the
meal and the good
service. We began
with the bruschetta
appetizer and a
Stairway to Heaven
cocktail. If you love
pina coladas, you’ve
got to try this one! Our
entrees included the
Cajun shrimp pasta -
fantastic! With fresh
mushrooms & grape
tomatoes in a creamy
Cajun spiced sauce,
large shrimp & perfectly
al dente penne, and
also the fresh fish of
the day, which was
lightly grilled & served
with a nice dill sauce
and sides of roasted
seasonal veggies &
rustic mashed potatoes.
The atmosphere is
lively with an openair
balcony facing
the ocean & bustling
Alii Drive. Definitely
time your arrival to
take advantage of the
gorgeous Kailua-Kona
sunsets. Prices were a
little on the higher end
of the scale, but for
a special experience
it was worth it. We
highly recommend.

A must stop every
time we are here. The
Swordfish tacos are
always great as well
as the Kale chop!! We
are hooked on our
favorites, but everything
that comes out of the
kitchen looks delicious.
Very good service too!

Mexican Grill
The food was beyond
amazing. And they have
really good mixed drinks.
The atmosphere was
relaxing and our server
was so friendly and very
attentive. We have been
here for a week, and
so far, it’s my favorite
restaurant in Kona!

Starbucks

MarketPlace
One of my favorite
Starbucks. Staff is
always friendly and
helpful. Store is small
with limited seating
inside and small
amount of seating
outside. Restroom is in
the mall area. The inside
is clean and the napkin
area always clean and
well stocked. Glad that
Starbucks supports
vegans with non-dairy
milks. The Kona pour
over is a treat you can
find at this location.
They also have bags of
Kona beans available.

Rays on the Bay
I really enjoyed
eating here. You are
able to watch the
manta rays while eating
dinner. I also like the
entertainment and our
waitress Emily was really
great. I had the “Da
Burger” and liked the
barbecue. I also enjoyed
the rocking chairs. The
food is decent, but you
go for the atmosphere.

Privateer’s
Cove
These guys take the
pirate theme seriously!
Daily changing menu and
very personalized service.
BYOB or grab a drink
next door and bring it
over. Love the duck and
the venison bolognese
on our recent visit. No
frills. No pretension.
And NO CELLPHONES
Allowed. Small place
so reservations are
a good idea.

I loved the Spicy

Ice cream at its
best. Delicious.... Very
friendly and custom
service. There was a
nice variety of additives
to choose from, all of
which are no extra cost.

Seafood, Steakhouse & Sushi Bar has
just unveiled a new roster of handcrafted
cocktails utilizing unique
ingredients inspired by chef DK
Kodama’s cooking style. The “Sansei-
Tini” highlights Nigori sake, for
example, while the “East Meets West”
blends Kai lemongrass shochu, coconut
liqueur and fresh basil. Another
refreshing libation, the “Ginger Shiso
Mule” is crafted with Ocean vodka,
St. Germain elderflower liqueur and
fresh ginger.
Additionally, Sansei has just rolled
out a manager’s selection “wines by
the glass” program. The restaurant
also hosts Wine Wednesdays every
week in which 70 wines are available
at 15-20 percent off per bottle.
