Lunchtime at Bongo Ben’s
Island Café is a feast for the
senses, not the least of which
is the amazing view of Kailua
Bay just across the street from
this popular oceanfront, dining
destination on Alii Drive.
On the lunch menu, burgers
take center stage. Flame-broiled
and served on homemade
grilled buns, burgers include
everything from calamari steak
or veggie burgers to the Dixie
Burger served Southern style
with chicken-fried steak and
American cheese ($12.50).
Speaking of all-American,
Bongo Ben’s is the perfect place
for lunch on Father’s Day. Check
out the many sandwich selec-tions
including the BBQ Pulled
Pork sandwich ($12.95) or the
Chicken Club ($14.95), each
served on grilled homemade
bread. A seasonal sandwich, the

There are also several “bat-tered”
options for lunch includ-ing
tempura fish & chips
($15.95) and chicken tenders &
chips with choice of ranch or
BBQ dipping sauce ($13.95).
The lunch menu also show-cases
an array of tacos and
wraps like the mahi fish tacos,
teriyaki chicken wraps, and
veggie wraps. Lunch á la carte
items are great for sharing, such
as the cheddar bacon fries or
a basket of delicious coconut
onion rings. Wash it all down
with a local draft brew or island-style
cocktail.
Lunch at Bongo Ben’s is served
from 11 a.m. until closing. All
lunch entrees come with choice
of fries or island-style coleslaw.

and served with artisan flair.
Desserts are a highlight
thanks to Chef Meza’s back-ground
as a pastry chef, hav-ing
worked at the prestigious
Sir Francis Drake Hotel in
San Francisco after attend-ing
Le Cordon Blue culinary
school in the city. His cuisine
combines Creole influences
and fresh island ingredients.
Foster’s Kitchen puts the
focus on healthy eating,
showcasing hormone-free
meats, non-GMO products,
grass-fed local beef, locally
sourced produce, and home-made
sauces, condiments
and dressing. Everything
at Foster’s Kitchen is made
to order, says Sheldon, who
sources ingredients by the
day, including lamb, produce
and fish, etc., so that only the
freshest-of-the-fresh prod-ucts
appear on the plate.
If you can’t make it to
Foster’s Kitchen on Father’s
Day, consider getting dad a
Foster’s Kitchen gift card.
Dads will also enjoy Foster’s
Kitchen’s excellent ros-ter
of local draft beers, ten
total, along with signature
cocktails.
With two happy hours per
day (3-5 p.m. and late night,
9-10 p.m.), Foster’s Kitchen
invites patrons to enjoy $2
off signature cocktails made
with fresh juice, handmade
syrups and no added preser-vatives
or commercial mixes.

across the street from Kailua
Bay, Foster’s Kitchen is open
daily for lunch and din-ner
from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
