ahi served with pineapple and white
rice.
At the entry of the covered dining
patio, two giant bongos with menus
printed on the drumheads attract
customers as they approach the steps
of the restaurant, where every seat
has an ocean view. In the back room,
a cocktail bar features local brews and
imports on tap, plus 10 TV screens
broadcasting a variety of sports.
The lunch and dinner menu
teems with an abundance of choices.
Popular entrées and appetizers
include fresh catch of the day, steak,
fish and chips, healthy salads, surf ‘n’
turf, burgers, seafood pasta, soups,
sandwiches, wraps, ahi sashimi, poke,
pizza and beer-battered seafood platters.
Nightly specials are also featured,
highlighted by the restaurant’s
popular prime rib night on Sundays
and fresh-catch seafood specials on
Mondays.
Bongo Ben’s is the perfect place to
enjoy cocktails and appetizers while
you watch a classic Kona sunset. The
delicious poke is seasoned to perfection.
The Seafood Platter brims
with battered fish, calamari, coconut
rings, and is large enough to split
three ways.
Bongo Ben’s Island Café has earned
a Fodor’s Choice gold star designation
from Fodor’s Travel as a “best of the
best” Big Island dining destination in
its respective price range or category.
Year after year, Bongo Ben’s is also
voted best breakfast in West Hawaii
by readers of West Hawaii Today.

Foster’s Kitchen
announces
new spring menu
Island-fresh mango is at the
forefront of Foster’s Kitchen’s
newly unveiled menu for spring
that features the gourmet creations
of Chef Sheldon Meza.
Whether the mango macadamia
nut poke, white chocolate mango
mousse heart, or grilled soursop
shrimp noodle salad with mango
soy-lime vinaigrette, Chef
Meza’s innovative scratch-made
offerings present a tantalizing
take on fresh, local ingredients.
Perched above Alii Drive
overlooking Kailua Bay, Foster’s
Kitchen puts the focus on locally
sourced products, non-GMO
ingredients, grass-fed beef and
hormone-free meats. The venue’s
casual, farmhouse interior
sets the stage for fine dining at
affordable prices.
Combining Creole influences
with Pacific Rim flavors,
the spring menu features such
entrées as Jamaican jerk pork
chops served with house-made
Cajun red beans, rice, sautéed
coconut curry greens and fried
corn bread. Marinated in rice
wine soursop ginger, the grilled
soursop shrimp noodle salad
includes crisp veggies, Napa
cabbage and fresh mango atop a
bed of glass noodles.
With two happy hours per day
(3-5 p.m. and late night, 9-11
p.m.), Foster’s Kitchen invites
patrons to enjoy $2 off signature
cocktails made with fresh
juice, handmade syrups and no
added preservatives or commercial
mixes. On the new spring
cocktail menu, the mango basil
lemonade blends Ocean organic
vodka and scratch lemonade
with garden-grown basil and
chunks of fresh local mango.
The mango-and-soursop sangria
features fresh-pressed citrus,
limoncello, fresh mango,
handcrafted soursop syrup, and
bourbon.
Foster’s Kitchen is open daily
from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Call 326-
