6 ONO-LICIOUS | SEPTEMBER 1, 2017 Toast of the Town Camel Burgers served every Wednesday for Hump Day BY KAREN ANDERSON SPECIAL TO WEST HAWAII TODAY The swashbuckling chefs at Privateer’s Cove are cooking up a bounty of culinary adventures, not the least of which is the iconic Camel Burger, available every Wednesday for lunch on Hump Day. Served with honey butter and Swiss cheese, the popular Camel Burger feature genuine camel meat, which experts say is high in protein, low in fat and loaded with vitamins and minerals. It’s just one of many specialty game meats offered at Privateer’s Cove, where food from all corners of the globe are showcased on a continually changing menu. Open for lunch and dinner, Privateer’s Cove is located in Kailua-Kona’s Old Industrial center right next door to Broke Da Mouth Grindz. Depending on availability, menu items run the gamut from duck breast, rack of lamb, pork schnitzel and filet mignon to alligator, kangaroo, pheasant and ostrich. Several of the restaurant’s menu items benefit local organizations. Proceeds from the American Legion Special, for example, help support American Legion Post #20 in Kailua-Kona.
