This July, grab a bite to eat at any number of restaurants, cafés or eateries, then take a seat near the Coronation Pavilion to watch live hula performances, Polynesian dancing, monthly mini concerts or Movies Under the Stars. Every Monday and Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., live hula performances by local halau bring the flavor of the Islands to Queens’ MarketPlace. In addition, the ‘Alohi Polynesian Dance Academy performs every Friday evening at the Coronation Pavilion. Saturday, July 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. LifeinPursuit will perform live in concert at the Coronation Pavilion. This beachy, rhythmbased acoustic rock group has recently added some rock/rap flavor to its existing sound. You won’t want to miss a beat. Once a month at dusk, a free movie presentation takes place at Coronation Pavilion. On Saturday, July 22, bring a beach chair or blanket for the animated movie Sing, starring Matthew McConaughey and Reese Witherspoon. Patrons of Queens’ MarketPlace can find many affordable dining options inside the center’s Food Court before, during or after the shows. Ippy’s Hawaiian BBQ highlights the talents of celebrity chef Ippy Aiona, while renowned chef TK Keosavang serves up noodle entrées, salads and seafood dishes at Lemongrass Express. Fresh island fish takes center stage at Hawaiian Fish N Chips. Paradise Pizza offers a variety of pies in several sizes.
