Marble Slab Creamery at Queen’s MarketPlace Nothing can beat their cake batter ice cream. I would catch a flight to Hawaii right now just for a scoop of that bad boy! Although I have a Marble Slab here in Atlanta, Georgia, the taste of this particular flavor was different. It didn’t match even the birthday cake flavor Coldstone has. You have umpteen choices of sauces and toppings. Pretty generous quantity as well. I topped the cake batter ice cream with yellow cake, rainbow sprinkles and marshmallows. Truly a birthday cake in disguise! Anitha R. Alpharetta, Georgia Ruth’s Chris Steak House My husband and I decided to try the Ruth’s Chris on the Big Island. It did not disappoint. We never eat dinner so early so didn’t realize that if you go before 6 p.m., of which we arrived at 5:58 p.m., you are able to get their early bird special of a three course meal for $50 per person. Our waitress was so nice to tell us we had made it in time ... total surprise to us. We ordered the ahi tuna as an appetizer and a beet salad. The ahi tuna was perfectly seared and the beet salad was paired with goat cheese that was also excellent. Our main course was ono ... aka wahoo. We had two very generous pieces of ono that was flaky and melted in your mouth. For dessert we had ice cream and banana bread pudding, oh so yummy. Try the passion fruit Moscow mules. We loved them. Gail T. Melbourne Beach, Florida Roy’s Waikoloa Bar and Grill My family and I had a delicious meal at Roy’s this evening. So good, in fact, that we booked to go back later in the week. Service was wonderful, food outstanding. Highly recommend the butterfish entree. Our daughter loved her kid’s meal as well - four course for $14.95. Can’t beat it. If you are staying in the Waikoloa area, definitely put Roy’s on your list to visit. eclarkebu The Koa Table at King’s Shops My family and I went here on our last night of vacation. We had no expectations since we stumbled on it while just walking around. Had poke which was really good and a sirloin burger that rivals only one other as THE BEST I’VE EVER HAD. Fair prices and top notch service to cap it off. I will go well out of my way to eat here again next time I’m on the Big Island. Michael F. Maricopa, Arizona Island Gourmet Market This is a nice market but the deli is the best part. First, the market part has most things that tourists need/want with typical pricing. Grocery store items like juice, cereal, milk, bread. We discovered the deli late one evening. Hungry, but not wanting to spend a lot of money we checked it out. Wow! You can get things like loco moco, salads, fish, sandwiches, fries, and many other menu items. Also nearby are Continued on page 8
