ONO-LICIOUS | JUNE 30, 2017 Word on the Str(eat)! stepped inside I felt a little relieved because of how nice and clean everything was. There is no alcohol here but don’t let that steer you away because the food is top notch! The staff was extremely friendly and made a point to talk with all the customers. We started with the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer and it was amazing. I had the Filet for dinner and my wife had the duck. I love this places atmosphere and attitude. If I’m ever in Kailua-Kona again I’ll be sure to revisit Privateers Cove. Marc B. Sansei Seafood and Sushi Bar at Queens’ MarketPlace Legit place. We had several appetizers/ starters and a sushi combo. Panko crusted fresh Ahi Sashimi — very good. Sansei style Ahi Poke — also very good. DK’s Crab Ramen with Asian truffle brothwhaaa?! This is ridiculously good. Topped off with the Nissei Sushi Combo, which is basically a whole bunch of fish, octopus, shrimp, and tamago. You also get a roll. We stopped right there with the food because all that was inhaled in under 30 minutes. NOW OPEN! Grand Opening Special Free 4 pcs Gyoza *Expires 7/28/17. Wonder Lake, IL Lemongrass Bistro We were looking for something different in a restaurant in Kailua-Kona after having already sampled many of the beach-front establishments over the years on periodic visits to the area. We found exactly what we’d hoped for in this small Asianfusion bistro a couple of blocks up from Kailua’s main tourist stroll. The fusion part of things evidently refers to those of its menu choices that combine elements of Thai and Vietnamese cooking, but it was our untutored impression that the emphasis is on the Thai dimension, which hardly mattered one way or the other. It was utterly delicious food, the service excellent, and the prices reasonable. We liked it so much the first evening we visited, that we returned several nights later. On both occasions we noted that a good number of locals were picking up takeout, always a good sign. The portions are neither skimpy nor too generous, but just right, a point on which both diners agreed. They have wine and beer, but don’t expect an impressive list. We rarely order deserts, but we did so here if for no other reason than we had never before had the opportunity to try fried ice cream. There is outside as well as inside seating. Decor is pleasant and not overstated. HarperE Los Habaneros I was vacationing in the area during Cinco de Mayo and I wanted a take out dinner so I looked online for a nearby Mexican restaurant. This restaurant had good reviews so I drove there and ordered one of their special Cinco de Mayo meals, chicken mole. I was very pleased with my choice; the chicken was tender and the mole was flavorful. The woman who took my order at the counter was pleasant and efficient and my food was ready after a short wait. I would revisit this restaurant the next time I vacation here and wanted a Mexican meal. SilverFoxx66 Palos Verdes Estates, California Sam Choy’s Our breakfast was so outstanding, we went back for dinner. It was our 50th anniversary, so we wanted a memorable experience. Sam Choy’s did not disappoint. My wife had soft shelled crab and steak. I had the fresh catch. It was grand & the sunset was epic. Dale S.
