The group formed in 2013 with vocalist Scott Reagan, accoustic guitarist Marion Geruschat and lead guitarist Dan Corippo. In 2016, bassist Mati Laino and Joe LaRusso on drums joined the group. While Bottle of Blue plays the standard classic covers, the band also writes its own original music that is reflective of the classic rock genre, but with a fresh perspective. They play covers like Grateful Dead, The Allman Brothers, Neil Young, The Eagles, Tom Petty and Led Zeppelin, among others. Bottle of Blue released its first album, “Big Horizon,” in October 2015. LAURA Shows & events West Hawaii County Band offers free concert The West Hawaii County band performs at 6:30 p.m. this evening at Hale Halawai. The free performance, “June Tunes,” will include classical music selected from the band’s repertoire, including “Strike Up The Band” by George Gershwin and an interesting arrangement of “Scarborough Fair,” the classic hit from the 1960s by Simon and Garfunkel. The performance is part of the band’s monthly Free Friday Concert Series sponsored by the Hawaii County Parks and Recreation Department and the West Hawaii County Band Friends, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. The band is conducted by Bernaldo Evangelista. The band will also march in the Kona Pride Parade on Saturday morning in Kailua-Kona. Info: www.westhawaiiband.com.
