WAIMEA Word on the Str(eat)! The Bay Terrace at Mauna Lani “The buffet breakfast here was included in our rate for the Mauna Lani hotel. Excellent food. Great variety of hot and cold foods, including a make-to-order omelet bar. Wonderful pastries/sweet breads, fruit, juices, etc.” Beachwatcher14 Whidbey Island, Washington Dairy Queen/Orange Julius at Queens’ MarketPlace “Both my wife and I chose our drinks at DQ, while eating the rest of our lunch from another fast food establishment. We each had our favorite drink. My wife had the large moolotte-mocha and I had XL tripleberry smoothie. The two drinks were almost $16.00 and well worth it.If you haven’t tried these drinks yet, give them a try.” sabers86 Milwaukee, Wisconsin The Koa Table at King’s Shops “Go to dinner at The Koa Table tonight. The Misoyaki Butterfish (which is nearly $60 at Roy’s) was only $24 and it was truly amazing. The Fresh Catch was swordfish, and they grilled it perfectly for only $25. It was tender and robust. (If you overcook swordfish, it gets tough like a pork chop.) The swordfish came with some purple potatoes that were baked crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated with the most incredible spices. It also came with a fern salad. Yes, fern. It was delicious, and the first time we’d ever eaten ferns. For dessert, we chose the Coconut Macadamia Nut Creme Brûlée. Very yummy, and only $10. (Now, I know some people won’t think that a $10 dessert is a “deal”, but that same dessert would be about $20 at Brown’s Beach House, and it probably wouldn’t be this good.) The staff is incredible. When we walked in the door, the guys in the kitchen greeted us like family. The guy who brought our water treated us like family, and stopped to make sure we were happy every time he walked past our table. In fact, everybody in the restaurant acted like they owned it and were thankful we had come in. Sit outside overlooking the lake, and enjoy.” Nalo Nevis, MN Noodle Club “The Noodle Club was a sheer delight. There is a top chef in the kitchen of this unassuming place. The outstanding broth in the pho said it all. And crowning it with a perfectly roasted bone marrow is genius. I ordered it with short rib added to the dishes. We also enjoyed the pork belly baos and a short rib noodle soup dish with Korean garnishes. 4 days on the Big Island, and this was the best meal. Thank you.” BluefinToro Chicago Los Habaneros “Looks like a bit of a hole in the wall next to the Subway but the food is top shelf. Totally authentic and fresh. Somebody loves what they do and is using their secret family recipes and it shows on every plate.” Jay A Lacombe, Canada Royal Thai Café “Great little restaurant…nice find on TripAdvisor. Fantastic, fast, and friendly service. Great advice on spice level from our waiter…I like things spicy and the recommended 3 of 5 hit the mark. Thai Dumpling Soup, Chicken Satay, and Basil Spring Rolls were very good for apps. Pad See Yew and Beef Chow Mein also very good. Thai Green Curry was a different take with more vegetables and no eggplant but the curry was creamy with a great flavor…shrimp were a little overdone. Phad Thai was more tomatoey than we are used to but good. Icy cold Singha and delicious Thai Iced Tea. After dinner coffee was good and strong and the kids devoured the Fried Ice Cream for dessert…like a hot sugar donut with vanilla ice cream inside…yum. Overall very nice meal.” BobBabooski Hawaii MID APRIL! Kona Commons Shopping Center 74-5450 Makala Blvd. Open Daily 10:30am-30a -9:30pm 808-334-9898 Try our Tan Tan Ramen Combo!
