Your Foodie Guide t to great eating in West Hawaii ONO-LICIOUS!March 24, 2017 Deep discounts are a daily occurrence at Sansei Seafood, Steak & Sushi Bar BY KAREN ANDERSON Patrons “in the know” line up well in advance outside the doors of Sansei Seafood, Steak & Sushi Bar for discounts at the popular Waikoloa Beach Resort restaurant at Queens’ MarketPlace. Whether the 50-percent off Early Bird discount every Sunday and Monday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., or the 25-percent-off Early Bird on all other days of the week from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Sansei offers substantial savings on most all of its menu items (with a few restrictions) every night of the week. “Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis and we tend to sell out by 5 p.m.,” said Tom Alejado, managing partner of Sansei Waikoloa. “I always say, it’s a great way to get introduced to Sansei Waikoloa for those who haven’t dined with us yet.” The savings are impressive when you consider that an 8-oz. NY steak or 7-oz. chili-porcini filet mignon can go for half price during Sunday and Monday’s Early Bird Dining event. There’s also abundant savings on appetizers, pasta, seafood, smoked duck breast, sashimi and sushi, to name a few. But wait, there’s more! Latenight dining discounts are also offered on Friday and Saturday from 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The special menu offers 50-percent off all food items. Founded by the D.K. Restaurant group in 1996, the first Sansei restaurant opened its doors at the Kapalua Resorts on Maui, followed by the Waikoloa location and two others on Maui and Oahu. Opened in 2008, the Waikoloa Sansei features a fun and lively atmosphere, friendly service and inventive entrées. Kanji icons on the menu indicate the “must try” dishes such Seared Ahi Salad, a favorite. There’s also the Seared Foie Gras Nigiri Sushi, or the Ginger Hoisin Smoked Duck Breast served with sautéed spinach and roasted fingerling potatoes. The most popular item on the entire menu, the Panko Crusted Ahi Sashimi Roll is a lightly fried appetizer made with premium ahi. Every entrée can be portioned to share with everyone at the table. The server will bring extra bowls and plates for sampling anything on the menu including the crab ramen, seared salmon and tiger prawns, or the Chinese-style Continued on page 5 Sansei’s sushi o erings pair well with delicious sake like the “Dewasansan” sake featuring a green-apple tartness and refreshing fi nish.
