WAIMEA Word on the Str(eat)! Hawaiian Fish & Chips “We weren’t quite sure what to expect from a food court fish place, but we ended up enjoying our meal. Typical food court; nothing fancy, just get your order and sit at a table out in the common area. The facility is fairly well maintained, and appears to cater to both locals and tourists. We had the seared ahi and the unagi bowl; both being quite tasty. This is certainly not fine dining, but if one wants a good meal at a reasonable price, this is a solid option.” RICART75, Peru, Indiana Habaneros Grill “This small friendly location is a great place for a meeting with friends. I always order the steak salad, it is to die for.” Betty O Ippy’s Hawaiian BBQ “I found Ippy’s via Google search. It is quietly located between a Subway and a Dairy Queen at Queens Market. We met Matthew who enthusiastically recommended the Kalua Pig and Garlic Shrimp. The Kalua Pig was delicious and the Barbecue Sauce served on the side was fantastic. Of course they make the sauce themselves. The Garlic Shrimp was great and the garlic oil left behind was a nice flavoring for the fries. The manager and his staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. He also explained that the owner “Ippy” was a Food Network Chopped champion and had been featured in season 8 of Food Network Food Star. The most expensive meal was only 15$ and I feel more than worth it.” Paul T., Winston-Salem, NC The Koa Table “My foodie friend and I, Debbie, decided we needed a night of great food and service; and to our extreme delight we received exactly that at the fairly new Koa Table Restaurant at the Kings Shops at Waikoloa Resort! We decided to only order “Pupus” or Tapas style, instead of ordering a heavy entrée and that was the perfect decision because to our delight everything we ordered (and then some) was absolutely fantastic! We ordered the following: Lumpia, Manila Clams (in this absolutely incredible broth called Spicy Aromatic Sake Butter Sauce), Poi Bowl, Crabbie Piggie Salad and a couple of orders of the Hawaiian Chili Pepper Cornbread with Big Island Honey (absolutely excellent when dipped in the Manila Clam Sauce); WOW, just incredible flavors! We decided to order a couple of cocktails to help us further unwind and get us in the mood to truly enjoy our gastric experience; Debbie recommended the Lava Flow, of which absolutely hit the spot! Beautiful presentation and amazing flavoring- not too sweet and not to sour or rancid but just right! The staff were just amazingly attentive; from our hostess (Jena) that promptly greeted us at the stand outside and then seating us on their beautiful Terrace to our efficient and courteous waitress (Donna) to our food runner (Ana) to the actual guests out on the terrace who were extremely jovial and seemed very happy with their entire experience! When I return to this restaurant, absolutely; what I recommend this restaurant, absolutely!!!” Fern K., Waimea, H Roy’s Waikoloa Bar & Grill “Simply put, this was one of the finest meals we have had. While the menu contains beef, fish and poultry entries, we focused on fish for our main course. We took advantage of the prix fixe menu ($69 w/o wine pairings). That included 3 appetizers (you get a small sample of all 3), a selection of 1 of 3 main courses and a selection of 1 of 3 desserts. For the main course, we each opted for the sword fish (it was the catch of the day) in a lobster/macadamia nut sauce. It was outstanding. The desserts were equally as good. We had a macadamia nut tart and a hot chocolate souffle. The service was great. The restaurant was full (on a Tuesday night) but we didn’t feel cramped in. With tax and tip, plan on spending $90 + drinks. Expensive — but well worth it.” rbw8461, Burr Ridge, Illinois P rivateer’s COve World Cuisine Privateer’s Cove is in Kaiwi Square In Old Industrial VISITORS - Come on the Trolley!
