YAKI MANJU INGREDIENTS: ¼ lb. butter 1 ½ cups sugar 4 ½ cups flour 2 tsp. baking soda 4 egg yolks milk, divided mochiko rice flour 1 pkg. Tsubu An or Koshi An sweetened red bean paste 1 pkg. roasted white sesame seeds DIRECTIONS: Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy in a large bowl. Mix in egg yolks and ¾ cup milk together, slowly sift in flour and baking soda, constantly mixing. Dust your hands with mochiko and take a spoonful of dough and flatten into 2" diameter discs. Place a teaspoon of sweetened red bean paste in the center of each dough disk and fold dough over, pinching at the bottom to cover bean paste. Place on a flat cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush tops with milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds on each Manju. Bake in the oven at 350°F for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
