6 ONO-LICIOUS | JANUARY 27, 2017 Da Latest Scoop Asian Fest presents free food and entertainment, Friday, Feb. 3 at Queens’ MarketPlace BY KAREN ANDERSON SPECIAL TO WEST HAWAII TODAY Next Friday, Feb. 3, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Queens’ MarketPlace will present the fifth annual Asian Fest, featuring Chinese lions, Japanese taiko drummers, Filipino dancers and other entertainment — plus complimentary food samplings served by the many restaurants and cafés of Waikoloa Beach Resort. Taking place on the eve of the Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival, Asian Fest will feature 17 food booths offering free tastings to the public, said Margo Bunnell, sales and operations manager for Queens’ MarketPlace. “The Asian Fest gives our restaurants the chance to celebrate the New Year by showcasing the cultures of China, Okinawa, Philippines and Japan,” said Margo. “The event spans the entire shopping center. Some people come for the entertainment; others come to eat.
