LICIOUS!December 16, 2016 Celebrate the Holidays A series of holiday dining celebrations culminates on New Year’s Eve Exciting, holiday culinary events are taking place throughout the season at Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows. Open to guests and Mauna Lani residents, the resort’s renowned dining destinations include the flagship restaurant CanoeHouse; the beautiful Bay Terrace; the poolside Ocean Bar & Grill; and the newly re-opened Honu Bar. The season kicks off on Thursday, December 22 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the annual Charity Trees Buffet to be held at The Bay Terrace. The Kona Choral Society will be singing in the atrium so that diners can enjoy the sounds of the season. The bounty of offerings will include everything from paniolo-seasoned smoked prime rib and steamed crab legs, to catch of the day, North Shorestyle garlic shrimp, upcountry sweet-potato salad, and much more. Price is $60 adults/$25 children ages 5 to 12, plus tax and gratuity. Complimentary valet parking is available, and kama‘aina can receive a 15% discount for the charity event. (Discount does not apply to other holiday events.) A few days before Christmas, the Bay Terrace Crab Feast takes place on Friday, December 23 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. In addition to boatloads of crab legs, shrimp and fresh catch, there’s also herb-crusted prime rib, Pulehu chicken, pasta, sushi, salads, corn chowder, bruschetta, baked potatoes, poke, and homemade desserts. Cost is $59 per adult and $20 for children, ages 5 to 12. On Sunday, Dec. 25, the oceanfront CanoeHouse will host a bountiful Christmas Dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The opening course features such selections as ahi poke, local beef & vegetable lumpia, Kona lobster tempura, and Chinese-spiced roasted duck breast. For entrées, guests can choose from macadamianut crusted mahi-mahi, Hawaii ranchers’ filet mignon, grilled lamb chops, Shanghai-style Kona “Maine” Lobster, and more. CanoeHouse isn’t the only venue at the resort to host a holiday feast on Christmas Day. Adjacent to the resort’s beautiful tropical gardens, The Bay Terrace will present a Christmas Buffet on Sunday, December 25 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Live music will be featured.
