Jimi Hendrix Birthday Bash Sunday in Honokaa Jimi Hendrix biographer Steven Roby will present a Jimi Hendrix Birthday Bash on Sunday at the Honokaa Peoples Theatre. The iconic guitarist would’ve turned 74 this November. The Hendrix tribute will feature live music from Roger Winter (UH-Hilo Jazz Orchestra), a newly edited version of the movie, “Rainbow Bridge,” which features Hendrix’s 1970 concert on Maui, and an introduction and book signing by Roby for his book, “Hendrix On Hendrix: Interviews and Encounters with Jimi Hendrix.” Live music will start at 1:30 p.m. “Hendrix on Hendrix,” released in 2012, assembles the most important Hendrix interviews in one volume. A respected Hendrix historian, Roby carefully selected interviews that offer insight into not only Hendrix, but the era from which he emerged as a cultural icon. Tickets range in price from $4-$6. PBS Hawaii to commemorate Pearl Harbor anniversary with special programming PBS Hawaii is dedicating its primetime schedule the week of Dec. 4 to documentaries and television specials related to Pearl Harbor. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor that catapulted the United States into World War II.
