ONO-LICIOUS | NOVEMBER 25, 2016 7 Word on the Str(eat)! Kenichi Pacific My wife and I go to Kenichi every time we visit Kona, which is 2 or 3 times a year. The sushi is excellent, the service may leave a bit to be desired at times, but overall the wait staff do well. Having lived in Tokyo for 25 years, I know my way around a sushi shop, and Kenichi does it better than most. I have never had a bad experience there. Go, you will not find better sushi on Kona. tokyogolfguy, Tokyo Bongo Ben’s We stopped for lunch on the recommendation of a local, and were not disappointed! While it’s not what you would call a high class restaurant, it serves good food with generous portions, and you are looking right out over the beautiful bay across Ali’i Drive. Our sandwiches and breakfast were generous, and tasty. While service was a bit slow, we weren’t in a hurry so didn’t really mind. Our server was excellent, and even asked if we had a discount card (we did) that took 20% off the regular price! Al K, Olympia, Washington Lemongrass Bistro So surprised by this little place in a shopping center food court! I ordered the yakisoba, so good! My husband got orange chicken lunch special and was equally happy. Perfect if not large portions for a very good price. All veggies were very fresh and chicken was whole white meat, yay! I would have ate there again if we hadn’t discovered it on our last day :( Nicolemarie017, Alaska Charley’s Thai Cuisine It is difficult to find a nice restaurant on the Kohala Coast that does not cost an arm and a leg. Charley’s fills the bill with reasonable priced Thai preparations. Not the best Thai, another shrimp or two in the pad thai would be appreciated; a little less rice flour in the sauce. But overall a good dinner without taking… rhale53, Boston Kamana Kitchen Put simply, this is an outstanding restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food, of a quality it is hard to find beyond India. Despite arriving just before closing time, the staff welcomed us with open arms (and kept the restaurant open beyond closing time as we struggled to choose from the reasonably sized menu). Throughout our experience the waiters were very attentive and the chefs dedicated. Sam especially was very friendly and we were very sad to leave his company. The food itself is simply amazing. We have searched high and low for a curry which is anything but bland. Kanaima has excelled. The choice of heat is a very welcome option too and well executed. Portion sizes are more than adequate, we were able to leave with enough of our curries for lunch the next day. We only wish we had discovered this restaurant earlier as we certainly would’ve returned for another meal. ScotsNomad2014, Aberdeen, United Kingdom Sam Choy’s Me and my wife loved the views that the restaurant offered, Awesome! the interior setting is classy and great for special events, the staff is sharp and aware of menus and item, service is great, food is 5 star level and overall great place to unwind with the sunset and a great sea food meal or whatever you may like from their vast menu. Lawrence H Island Gourmet Market I live nearby and shop here often. They have a large variety of foods (deli with sandwiches, salads, drinks, frozen etc), clothing, jewelry and gifts. They have some things that you cannot find anywhere else. It is a great store to find souvenirs. I highly recommend shopping here. They are located in the Queens Market Place in Waikoloa near the Hilton and the Marriott hotels.
