2 ONO-LICIOUS | NOVEMBER 25, 2016 Word on the Str(eat)! Romano’s Macaroni Grill If you are staying at Waikoloa (i.e. Marriott, Fairway Villas, etc). then the Macaroni Grill is by far the best restaurant in terms of value. The food is excellent and the prices being mid-range are acceptable. We returned here several times for both dinner and breakfast. Breakfast, by the way, is an awesome value and we highly recommend it. Drinks are delicious (i.e. Lava Flows, Pina Colladas) and once again, reasonably priced. Visited September 2015 Seasider48, Seaside, OR Bay Terrace, Puako We went to the Bay Terrace for the Sunday night crab and prime rib buffet. Expensive, but a delicious meal that everyone in the family enjoyed. Lots of things to try out, including poke and sushi and beautiful and tasty desserts. Kristi L Sansei Seafood Restaurant The best sushi I have ever had. Everything we had from the 2 rolls, the sashimi w/ vegetable mix and the ice cream pie at the end were fantastic. For couples, I recommend getting 3 plates, and let 2 of them be the “award winning” items that they specialize in. The desserts are also good to try, as they aren’t an afterthought like many other places. Jason P., Orlando, FL Island Fish & Chips Great fish, shrimp, calamari. Everything is fresh and tasty. The view is also fantastic. Plenty of fish for the kids to feed and keep them occupied while you eat your delicious meal. Can’t recommend this place more for a quick lunch stop. Jared T., Chantilly, VA Ippy’s Hawaiian BBQ I visit Waikoloa a few times a year and I order take-out from this restaurant at least twice per trip. The restaurant is in the food court of Queen’s Marketplace. The restaurants share a common seating area and the court is popular for takeout orders, a relaxed meal, or just a change of pace. I love their mixed plate choices. They prepare exceptionally-tasty meats. The balance of the Hawaiian plate is two scoops of rice and one scope of macaroni salad. Not much to say about these sides except they are consistent. Others in my party order other items on the menu, with high kudos for the curry dish and the stew. William Elliott A., Salem, US Charley’s Thai Cuisine I have a serious weakness when it comes to a spicy panang curry and this place hit the spot perfectly! The curry was super flavorful and just spicy enough so you could get the heat but not interfere with the flavor! We were in a big group too and the waitress that helped us didn’t bat an eye and was incredible! The prices are reasonable and not at all as bad as I expected for the area. Trevor D., Daly City, CA Lemongrass Express Very fast Top notch staff Bold, flavorful, fresh food Excellent variety We loved it so much, we went back again the same week. Considering the choices in the area, this was reasonably priced for the quality we received. Upscale food with casual dining — a must for foodies. All of the vegetables were crisp, hot dishes were hot, cold were cold. Excellent timing and service. Large groups may be more challenging to accommodate, but the food court area has a fairly large seating area. If you’re in downtown Kona, try TK Noodle House, run by the same owner. I assume the kitchen staff would be equally talented, though the prices may be slightly higher. Also, other “Lemongrass” restaurants on the Big Island may not be affiliated. Sean H., Redwood City, CA Ruth’s Chris Steak House We came for our 30th anniversary and weren’t disappointed! The meal was perfect and my wife was very pleased with the whole experience. Thanks Ruth Chris! We loved the service from Stephanie! George H., Ventura, CA Roy’s Waikoloa We came here at 8pm for my moms boyfriends daughters birthday. We’ve all been to both locations on Oahu, but this was the first time we came to the Waikoloa location. The food was amazing as always, Roy’s never disappoints. You must eat the chocolate souffle for dessert. We also had the creme brulee with our 3 orders of chocolate souffle and all were scraped clean from the plates. Heaven on a plate. My moms BFs daughter got a chocolate decadence cake and she said it was “amazeballs.” The service was amazing. Our server was Lurch and he took care of us the entire night. He was so polite and made sure our food was just how we wanted and everything was perfect. Definitely ask for Lurch to be your waiter when dining here. The food runners were also super nice! Overall, the best way to end our short trip to the Big Island. At the end of the dinner, my moms boyfriend’s son said, “I want to eat at Roy’s for my birthday!” :) Melissa T., Honolulu, HI P rivateer’s COve World Cuisine Privateer’s Cove is in Kaiwi Square In Old Industrial VISITORS - Come on the Trolley!
