The newly opened restaurant at Kings’ Shops in Waikoloa Beach Resort features a 24-tap beer tower that holds a plethora of great craft beer from local and mainland breweries. Selections include Mehana Southern Cross; Blue Moon; Kona Big Wave; Big Island Hoppy Wet Dream; Deschutes Hop Slice; Maui Bikini Blonde; and Deschutes Chainbreaker (Oregon), to name a few. The restaurant’s beautiful interior showcases an impressive, handcrafted bar made of locally harvested monkeypod wood. Only one of a few in the entire state of Hawaii, a frost rail extends the width of the bar, providing a chilled place for patrons to set their beer mugs or cocktail glasses upon a layer of frost that keeps drinks cool. Guests of A-Bay’s Island Grill can dine inside the restaurant or grab a shaded table on the outdoor patio. The appetizer menu offers almost a dozen choices, from escargot and pork adobo to seafood crab cakes, steamed Manila clams, chicken wings and fried calamari. Open daily for lunch and dinner until 9:30 p.m., A-Bay’s Island Grill offers late-night cocktails served until midnight. Happy hour takes place daily from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Serving up classic tropical libations and signature cocktails, A-Bay’s presents a comprehensive wine list designed to pair with delicious cuisine created by Big Island veteran chef, Darcy Ambrosio.
