Typically hosted by the business or by the Chamber’s Social Committee, these events are usually held “pauhana,” from about 5-7 p.m. They also offer attending members an opportunity to socialize, network and meet other business professionals. The Social Committee helps with planning and the Chamber office promotes the event. Recent Business After Hours events have included a visit to Hawaii Forest & Trail’s new downtown Hilo location, a Pahoa Village Stroll dining event, an insider’s look at Gemini Observatory’s base facility, and a historical look into W.H. Shipman, Ltd., a kama‘aina, family-owned company. Ed Hara of Hawaii Printing Corp. and Lisa Kwee of Hospice of Hilo show off their new recycle bags.
