Aloha mai kakou, Welcome to the 2016 Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce Activity Special Report. It is amazing to reflect on the fact that the Hawaii Island Chamber is currently in its 118th year of service to our business members and community at large. Always remember that we are so blessed to be a part of this great community and place. Opportunities for our organization, our members and our community are right in front of us. We all need to step up and proactively provide support as an organization and very importantly, as individuals. The Hawaii Island Chamber is proud to represent more than 300 businesses and professionals of innovation on Hawaii Island. This report provides in-depth insight into how our Chamber and its member businesses help to benefit local businesses and our island community as a whole. The Chamber’s mission is to help businesses and promote Hawaii Island. We provide leadership via services and advocacy for business to promote the economic well-being of the community. Our membership works collectively to fulfill our mandate to be the voice of business of East Hawaii and beyond, in a way that truly reflects who we are as a local, homegrown community. Being the voice of business means to: • Promote the economic well-being of our island, its products and services. • Influence legislation and policy through advocacy. • Voice our Island’s concerns to state, national and other local Chambers. • Identify issues facing the business community and collaboratively works toward solutions. • Sponsor seminars and programs to help members hone their skills to conduct better business. • Keep members informed with data on trends, legislation and developments. • Support and cultivate opportunities for growth for the next generation of community leaders. Today, being the voice of business is much more challenging than it has ever been. However, with challenges, there exists opportunities before us that are truly worthy of pursuing. Being a part of the Chamber can provide great benefit and opportunity to network and be a part of this collective voice of business for Hawaii Island.
