Hawaii Tribune-Herald Island Beat Thursday, May 4, 2017 9 Brewfest tickets go on sale Saturday Randy Hart, president of the Rotary Club of Hilo, announces the return of Hilo Brewfest from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, June 24, at the Wainaku Executive Center in Hilo. This fun-filled festival is an afternoon party featuring many local, state and mainland breweries, presenting more than 70 individual brews for attendees to sample. “Because we always have a sellout, people interested in buying the $50 tickets should make plans to stop by Mehana Brewery on East Kawili Street in Hilo on our Ticket Sale Day, Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to noon,” said Keith Okamoto, this year’s ticket chairman. “You’ll be able to buy your Brewfest tickets, enter to win Brewfest merchandise and you can sample some of Mehana’s own brews … all on Saturday, May 6,” Okamoto said. “If you can’t come on Saturday, Brewfest tickets will be available through our website on Sunday, May 7 at www.hilobrewfest.com. This year, VIP Tickets are only available through sponsorships. If you are interested in a Brewfest sponsorship, please email Misti at misti@daylum. com.” “How to choose from all these great brews is a ‘challenge’ many of our guests joyfully take on,” said brew chairman and originator of the festival, Bob Hanley. “With over 35 breweries offering more than 70 different ales, IPAs, lagers, stouts, ciders and other beer styles … it can be hard to choose, but it’s a great opportunity to try something new,” Hanley said. “And while you are taste-testing beer and food, we will have numerous live bands playing blues, country and rock ’n’ roll.” “Complementing these tasty brews,” said brewfest chairwoman Misti Tyrin, “are delicious food samplings from 15 local restaurants. Attendees are encouraged to try them all. Just like you can tastetest new brews, here’s a chance to sample great food from many of our Hilo eateries.” Signature Brewfest merchandise, including T-shirts, caps and the ever-popular “cozzies,” also are available at the festival. Upon arrival at the festival, attendees are given a souvenir pilsner glass along with a welcome from the Brewfest’s volunteers. For more information about the festival, visit www.hilobrewfest.com.
