Entry is by donation with a $10 minimum. The fundraiser is part of Pahoa’s Second Saturday Art & Music night. Drew Daniels, winner of the People’s Choice of the 2016 Pahoa’s Got Talent Showcase last October, organized an all-star volunteer lineup, including Love Eternal, The JPGS, Jus Wright, Off The Grid, Millicent Cummings, OK2Change, RITA, Nani Ka Ala, Green Flash, Drew Daniels, Geneva Rose, Tina Garber, Anthony Garza and Steve & Amy Lee. There will be an attempt to Skype with several Puna residents live at Standing Rock during the evening for a real look at what is going on with “defenders of the aina.” Daniels said funds raised will directly help the protectors on the frontline with food, fuel and warmth. “This is also about growing community and showing likeminded people all over the country that they, too, can support without camping in the snow,” Daniels said. “All proceeds will be donated directly to feet on the ground at Standing Rock.” The Akebono Theatre is located at 15-2952 Pahoa Village Road and will celebrate its 100-year anniversary in December 2017.
